Photographer Jerry Druhan
Photography by Jerry Druhan is artistic in not only color but composition. Here is an interview with Jerry about his passion........
My passion was fueled in Glacier and Yellowstone National Parks in 1974, with a Kodak pocket 110 camera. As a skinny little 14 year old, I was thrilled to be able to walk on snow wearing shorts and a T-shirt.
The beautiful panoramas still occupy the three brain cells I call my
I will never forget looking up the Grand Canyon of the
Yellowstone, snapping a picture, and seeing the same shot hundreds of
times, shot by hundreds of photographers. I fell in love with the
American West then, and long to return and settle some day, if it’s
possible for a photographer to settle.
I have heard it said that, to be content as a photographer, you need
to shoot where you are with what you have. God has blessed us with such
beauty wherever we look. We are never far from an interesting subject
to photograph. Flowers, forests, clouds, rivers, and lakes are
everywhere, and no two photographers will capture them the same way.
God’s greatest creation, people, come in all shapes, shades, and sizes,
with no two alike, except twins maybe. Wherever you go, there is a
captivating face waiting to be photographed for all posterity.
So I will shoot, and shoot often. I have been freed from the dreaded cubicle, and enter what I hope to be my last and best career........Photography.
4th Fridays at the Starline Gallery
Jerry Druhan is now an award winning photographer!
"I had the
privilege of being juried into the 4th Fridays Art Show at the beautiful
Starline Gallery in Harvard, Illinois. “Everyone loves the Starline,”
right Nance? I’m guessing there were 100 or more entries of
paintings, sculptures, photographs, and other items. 4 awards were
given. A nude painting won the show.
This photo, and another photo
won honorable mentions, and a beautiful infared photo took the people’s
choice honorable mention.
Had a nice time rubbing elbows with the artist community, both
artists and art lovers. It was awesome to see some of the art presented
and in progress by the resident artists of the Starline Gallery. It
teaches us to look and to think deeply. I guess some day soon, I will
need to compose an article explaining why I gave up the rat race to
become a hopefully not starving artist!"
